reconnect with your voice, yourself, and a warm community of singers.

Step into a space filled with warmth, connection, and the promise of beautiful music.

‘Sanctuary of Sound’ invites you to pause the busyness of life and immerse yourself in a day of harmonies, mindfulness, and connection.

What to Expect

A quick rundown of the day

Introduction

We’ll begin with a gentle, short, guided reflection – this is such a lovely way to wind down, push aside the stresses of everyday life, and fully engage in the day. It helps to ground ourselves, connect with our bodies and become fully present.

Warm ups

From there, we’ll explore slow vocal warmups and basic harmony exercises. We’ll warm up our voices gently, and learn how to blend with the people around us – how to hold onto your own harmony whilst listening and not overpowering others. Building up simple harmonies in a relaxed way like this helps us feel that we can create a blended sound with the people around us.

Breaks

Breaks for teas, coffees, and a relaxed lunch break gives us time to reset, refresh, and process what we’ve done already. It’s a lovely time to connect with others, making the day as much about community as it is about music.

The Heart of the Day

Here is the heart of the day; learning two beautiful songs arranged in resonant harmony. We’ll go over, and look at the harmonies you’ve already been sent in your harmony package, and learn how to arrange them with each other. We move at whatever pace the group needs, and indulge in how our gorgeous arrangement reverberates throughout the space.

the venue

Within the conveniently located Beckenham Methodist Church is the “Church Sanctuary” – a spacious and inviting hall, with beautifully resonant acoustics.

Its high ceilings and simple, open design create a natural environment where harmonies can soar and blend effortlessly. The warm, unadorned space has a calming presence, perfect for slowing down and connecting through music. This is an ideal venue for harmony and mindfulness workshops, where the focus is on creating beautiful sound and fostering a sense of connection and well-being.

Why Sanctuary of Sound?

This workshop is a sanctuary – a safe, nurturing space to slow down and embrace the restorative power of music. It’s about more than just singing. It’s about:

Reconnecting with Yourself:

Through mindfulness and music, you’ll tune into your body and voice, fostering self-awareness and inner peace.

Sharing Beautiful Energy:

Singing together creates an uplifting, shared vibration that stays with you long after the day ends.

Being Part of a Community:

Meet wonderful people who share your love for harmonies and meaningful connection.

Mims has always found music to be a beautifully safe space to express emotions, and creating that space for others is a dream. Resonant harmonies stir something deep within yourself, and participating in something that can only work in a group is wonderfully symbolic of the support and connection we need as human beings.

FAQs

Hope these answer your questions, but if not – just get in touch below!

1st February 2025

11am-4pm

Beckenham Methodist Church, Bromley Rd, Beckenham, BR3 5JE

Upon booking, you’ll request a harmony part –

(Female: Soprano (High), Mezzo (Middle), or Alto (Low))

(Male: Tenor (High), Baritone (Middle), Bass (Low))

Nearer to the workshop, I’ll send out a “harmony package”. This will include a lyric sheet, sheet music, the original song file, and 3 mp3 files (one with all the harmonies balanced equally, one with your harmony most prevalent, and one with only your harmony playing)

Listen to this as much as you can, and practice if you’re able – this ISN’T to make you sound perfect! It’s to make sure you can relax as much as possible on the day and enjoy yourself. I will be teaching the harmonies on the day and working them through with you all through exercises – but it’s always a much more relaxed experience with a head start.

The venue is fully accessible with an accessible bathroom. Fill out the contact form with anything specific and I’ll try as hard as I can to help. I want this experience to be as inclusive as possible, and to benefit everyone, so if there’s something extra you need – please just let me know.
Dress comfortably – comfort and connection are the main aims for this workshop! You can sit, stand, or even lie down at any point – the main thing is I want you to be completely comfortable.
There is on road parking by the church (check signage), and a large car park beside Beckenham Green which is just around the corner.
You can book by following the link to Paypal – transfer £25 to secure your spot – don’t forget to request which harmony part you want!

(I’ll get in touch shortly after with a confirmation email, and provide you with a direct email/telephone number for any queries)
